More on ISO 14001

In the year 2001, we received this prestigious title granted by the International Standards Organization (ISO) acknowledging that our company meets with the highest production standards and that we maintain a constant concern for the environment in all of our activities, products and services.

This is the result of our daily efforts to excel in everything we do and to and deliver wines of the highest quality. The ISO 14001 certificate reaffirms this commitment and establishes that Emiliana Vineyards relies on ecologically friendly agricultural practices through the integrated handling of our vineyards; where the local flora and fauna are respected thus promoting the sustainable development of the environment.

In addition, our company develops educational programs for our workforce, venders and contractors providing additional incentives for a preventive attitude towards pollution.

At Emiliana, everything is carefully structured not to cause damage to nature. The care of our fields, the cleanliness of the wine vaults, the use of agrochemical products and processes in general, all meet with strict international regulations.

Every year, all the clauses of the ISO14001 are revisited in order to identify opportunities to improve our environmental management.

A permanent analysis of the agrochemical products existing in the market is performed, giving preference to those having a “green” classification, which are environmentally friendly.
The control of disease is fundamentally based on natural elements such as: The use of covers between each row of the vineyard, which act as a natural protection for the plant as well as the use of hens and alpacas which control harmful insects.
The vineyard is constantly monitored in order to provide early detection of any complications that might affect the plants so that we may keep the application of agrochemical products to an absolute minimum.
We adhere to the industries "best practices" with regards to equipment calibration, personal protection elements, storage of agrochemical products and residue treatment, creating a standard that dictates the procedures to follow and precautions to take in every activity .
When storing, we also adhere to strict standards such as: The use of ventilated wine vaults with cement floors and drainage to contain spillage, metallic shelves to discourage bacteria growth, fire-extinguishers, triple washings for the packing, and recycling of non-used packaging.
Before initiating any procedure, we train our workforce on what are the environmental considerations are and that they must be kept in mind at all times.
The vineyard periodically consults with a specialized team of attorneys on environmental topics. In this way, through analysis and periodic reports, we ensure that we always adhere to all environmental legislation.
