CHIMBARONGO
This property of 110. 79 hectares is located in the Rapel valley. It possesses a franc soil, of a slightly deep stony aspect with light acidity. - ph (6.0).
The temperatures in Chimbarongo are as those of a Mediterranean sub humid climate, with four clearly defined seasons. Here we have a high thermal amplitude with a maximun in January that reaches 32° Celsius, while during the night, the temperatures drop considerably to about 14° Celsius. The higest concentration of rain occurs during the winter months, with an annual rate of 710 mm (28 inches).
On this country estate we have planted three varieties: Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet. The Chardonnay thrives here due to the influence of the “Viejo Convento” water stockade that contributes to the area having a colder and more humid microclimate than most of the zone. These conditions permit the Chardonnay grapes to mature at a slower rate than on other country estates of the region and allow us to harvest the grapes later in the season.
